Eye watering waste from hidden household leaks

Residents are losing a huge amount of water each year in leaks, causing their water bills to shoot up, often with no obvious reason why.

Living Water Smart found that in Darwin alone, one in six homes are leaking an average of 500 kilolitres of water per year. That’s 2,635 large wheelie bins of water!

Leaks can go unnoticed for years. A leaking toilet, barely discernible to the naked eye, can lose over 200 kilolitres of water per year.

Small leaks can add up fast - sometimes costing you $20 a week before you even notice. Make leak checks part of your regular maintenance regime and save yourself a bucket (literally).
