When you’ve been in the industry 27 years it is safe to say you’re part of the furniture, or in this case, part of the garden.

For Quentin Green, owner of Darwin Mowing, gardening and irrigation has always been his passion and educating the Darwin community about being water wise is all in a day’s work.

If he wasn’t in this industry he couldn’t image doing anything else.

What is your favourite plant and why?

Murraya (Orange Jessamine) – hardy yet attractive shrub.

What is your best tip for a water efficient garden in the dry season?

Be sure to mulch and fertilise.

What is your best tip for a water efficient garden in the build up?

Infrequent but heavier than normal watering and the use of a wetting agent.

What is your best tip for the garden in the wet season?

Have a well-drained garden where possible and use fertiliser. Also turn off your irrigation system, only watering when required.

What is your area of expertise?

Lawn and irrigation.

What are your qualifications?

Cert III and Diploma in Turf Management.

How long have you lived in Darwin?

I have lived in Darwin for 7 years.

What do you like most about living in Darwin?

It has to be the weather.
