Goodbye to guesswork and hello to smart watering

Life’s busy and watering schedules can be tricky to stay on top of.

Smart controllers take the guesswork out by automatically adjusting every day based on local weather data such as rainfall, temperature, wind and evaporation.  For instance, if it rains, the controller will reduce or pause watering to save water.

This helps reduce water use by at least 20%, saving you money and keeping your garden healthy.

Most smart controllers also come with an online portal or app, so you can easily monitor and change your irrigation from your phone, tablet or computer from anywhere in the world.

No more relying on well-meaning friends and family who might under water, or worse still, over water.

Many models also come with extra features, like:

  • Flow monitoring, zone shutdown and email/SMS alerts for leaks and broken pipes. Great for those night-time irrigation faults that go unnoticed.
  • Wiring alerts for valve faults - a common cause of hidden leaks.

Example weather triggers:

Here are some common triggers you can set through your controller’s app or web portal:

  • Turn off irrigation when rainfall exceeds 10mm
  • Decrease watering by 50% after more than 5mm of rain
  • Increase watering if the temperature rises above 35°C
  • Suspend watering if wind speeds over 50 km/h are forecast

Remember, to keep an eye on your garden and tweak the triggers if things start looking too dry or too soggy.

Accessing the Weather Web:

The Weather Web gives real-time weather data for your suburb, helping you water smarter, avoid overwatering and save up to 50% on your water bill.

It’s free to access if you live in Darwin, Palmerston and surrounding arears, but some smart controllers offer additional access plans that allow this extra function.
